Brazilian Film “The Pilgrim” Premiers

The Brazilian biopic film “The Pilgrim” Paul Coelho’s Best Story had its international premier at the 2015 Miami International Film Festival.  The Miami audience gave the film a very warm and enthusiastic reception.   The film, which was skillfully directed by Daniel Augusto, follows the remarkable and emotional story of Paulo Coelho’s self-discovery and traces the evolution of his creative life.

The cinematography of the film is particularly beautiful and the darkness and light and eruptive movement aptly reflected the turbulence of Coelho’s life.  Spanish actress Paz Vega, who learned Portuguese for her role as Coelho’s early life love interest, attended the Miami Film Festival to support the film as did the film’s producer Iona De Macedo and the director Augusto.  In her remarks before the screening De Macedo commented that she was particularly pleased to have the international premiere of the film in Miami which had been so welcoming to Latin Americans.
